Spectacles for your kids
To give your children the best chance of good vision now and in the future, we recommend a regular eye examination from early years onwards.

Poor Vision in Youngsters
If there is a history of wearing glasses in your family, there’s a chance your children may need them too. Our Myopia management plan will help slow down and, in some cases, prevent short sightedness.
This can be with either specialist spectacles with Stellest lenses or contact lenses.

Vision and Reading Clinic
You may notice your child is struggling with reading, which could be due to visual stress. Our Vision and Reading asessment is a good first start to finding out what’s wrong. This assessment will check to see if there are any clinical conditions affecting your child. If no underlying problem is found we may recommend trying coloured overlays to help which often leads to improved reading speeds for many young patients. You may have heard already about a basic colour reading test through school. Benjamins has taken it a step further and can offer your child access to the latest Colorimetry equipment – the only one in the area. This can give even better results for children who have already shown some improvement with a basic overlay.

Shades are COOL!
When summer comes around we think about our summer wardrobe and what sunglasses to accessories with. But what about your children? You may think a cheap pair of sunglasses is OK, but you might be causing more damage! Cheap ones that don’t offer complete protection may well be worse than not wearing any at all as they fool their eyes into thinking it’s safe to open the iris wider, which lets in more harmful UV. This could permanently damage the retina.
